Should You Buy Discount Checks

Nothing comes free these days, and ironically, you even have to pay for checks. Depending on how many checks you send out on a regular basis, searching for the best prices may or may not be the best use of your time.

Additionally, if you have any specific designs or formats in mind, discount checks may not have what you're looking for. First you need to assess your needs, and if you simply want a piece of paper with your banking information on it, you could save money on your order.

There are many different places where you can buy checks these days, but although the price range is typically the same, the formats and designs change. A standard box of about 150 single checks will cost about $15-19, which is not excessive, but if you are not picky, you can possibly find checks for half that amount, or even less if you order in bulk.

Discount checks can be found online if you search for cheap checks, but be careful and know your prices, because a site advertising cheap checks might lure you in, but very few of their products are cheap. Discount checks will probably cost you about $6-10 a box, and sometimes you only get that discount if you order 4 or more boxes.

Also, you will not have your pick of all the different image checks available and will be stuck with only a few designs. You will also not be able to order photo checks, where you can upload your personal images to be printed on to checks, since those will not be offered at discount prices.

However, the 50% or more you can save on bulk orders will definitely help you if you have no preference. If you are simply buying 1 box of checks, the discount won't really matter, especially when you factor in shipping costs, so be sure the search is worth the trouble.

Discounts are usually offered on single checks; rarely on duplicate checks or top stub formats, so you will get a single check with no automatic tracking method. However, most average people don't need all the extra photos, formats and personal designs that you pay extra for, and checks will always be valid as long as your bank account doesn't change, so in this economy, ordering 4 boxes of generic checks for the price of 2 or sometimes less, can be worth it.

As a single person without a business to advertise or many different transactions to keep track of, doing a quick online search for discount checks could save you money.

When you want to buy checks, the most important thing is to assess your needs. Discount checks may not be the best route for everyone, because your choices are limited, and your search will not be easy. If you are set on a specific design or format, make your life easy and pay the regular price, but if you don't care what your checks look like, then logging on to any site with cheap checks will save you some money.
